Do you have a missing tooth and are curious at what happens with a Dental Implant procedure? Well, that’s what we will talk about today!
Hi, Dr James here and I’m one of the principal dentists at Elevate Dental at Richmond and Hawthorn in Melbourne.
Last Tuesday, I had the pleasure of speaking with Brendan from Toorak. He had some missing teeth and he asked me, “What is involved with having a dental implant?” I thought I would share with you what I shared with him in this video.
A dental implant is the most technologically advanced treatment to replace a missing tooth or several missing teeth. It is made of a fixed titanium post, which supports a tooth-coloured ceramic cap. These are 100% biocompatible and are made to mimic the look, feel, and strength of a natural tooth. This means that it is as close a replacement as possible to your own natural tooth.
The entire procedure and recovery generally come with only minimal discomfort. This is allowed to heal over a few months. After this time, once the post is fully healed and integrated nicely with your bone, a tooth-coloured cap is handcrafted and fixed in to look and feel like a natural tooth. This cap allows you to confidently chew on it like a normal tooth. With good maintenance care, the dental implant can give you problem-free function and use for over 20 years.
As you can see, a dental implant is quite a straight forward procedure. Do you know someone who’s looking for a permanent solution to replace a missing tooth or a few missing teeth? We would love to help them. Simply ask them to give us a call at +61 3 9428 2424, send us a direct message on social media, or complete the enquiry form on our website www.elevatedental.com.au, and we will help them organise their appointment.
