Today, we’re going to talk about the process of getting dental veneers.
Hi, my name is Dr Judith, and I’m one of the principal dentists here at Elevate Dental.
Yesterday I was speaking with one of my patients Sarah from Richmond, during her smile makeover consultation, and she asked me, “So what happens when you get dental veneers? What’s the process?” So I thought I’d make a video to share with you what I shared with her just in case you are wondering about dental veneers as well.
Firstly, before we start, we need to do a lot of information gathering. This includes taking photos, x-rays as well as a 3D scan of the teeth. This is like point A on a map, your starting point. We want to figure out exactly where we’re starting, and where we need to go from here.
Now the second appointment when you come in is when we actually prepare the teeth. We take a 3D scan of the teeth, and then we fit you with your trial smile. This is a slightly longer appointment, depending on how many we’re doing. At the end of the appointment, you get to kind of trial run your new teeth, to see how they feel, and whether you like the shape and the size of them, and how it also looks when the lips are not numb. You get to road-test them and make adjustments until you’re entirely happy and comfortable with the new smile.
Now, once we’ve confirmed that, we go to the final appointment where we fit the veneers. At this appointment, we take out and remove the trial smile, and we place the final porcelain veneers. And from there, you can eat and drink straight away and you can smile as much as you like.
And that’s pretty much it. Dental veneers are a great and very impactful way to upgrade your smile. So if you are considering cosmetic dentistry with dental veneers, we would love to help. We have decades of experience with smile-makeovers.
